sir,
With reference to your despatch No.13
of 11th. January, in which you transmit a letter
from the War office relative to Lieut.L.R.E.W.
Taylor's application for civil or military
employment in Nigeria, I have the honour to
submit the following points regarding Lieut.
Taylor.
Lieut. Taylor will be able to retire
from the Army on pension in May 1915 ( when he
will be 33 years of age ). He would then accept
any suitable employment you might offer him in
the Colonial Service, but he does not wish to
sacrifice his Army service by accepting a civil
appointment now: such acceptance now would mean
the resignation of his commission.
Lieut. Taylor accordingly requests that
his application, forwarded in my separate despatch
of 21 January, may be considered as one for civil
employment in any Crown Colonytan May 1915.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble servant,
mag
Governor,&c.
The Right Honourable
Lewis Vernon Harcourt.M.P.
